Casino Red
WDL were appointed to design the first casino for a new operator, Casino Red, by converting a derelict cinema in Huddersfield town centre. Retaining the few original features from this listed building, the contemporary design has 3 bars, a restaurant and VIP lounge, which all sit above the main gaming hall.
Salvos
Our first project in 1982. We have carried out a few refurbishments since and this small but popular restaurant is due to be featured on the Channel 4 programme to find the UK's best local restaurant.
University of Bath - Elements bar
The refitting of and re-modelling of a student union bar and venue, positioning a 14 metre long bar in front of dramatic storey height windows with a coloured glass walls as the interface.
Zucchini
A feeder bar and restaurant to the old Batley Variety Club (Frontier Club).
Converted using materials reclaimed from woollen mills nearby and borrowing archive imagery from the Clubs 60/70's hey days.
University of Manchester Students' Union
A 500 sq m live music venue and café bar for the Student Union, converted from a collection of basement rooms.
